I would never eat turnips either but my neighbor made a sweet potato and turnip dish that I loved. Who knew?

Posted - Apr 07 2010 : 06:12:21 AM Melanie, that sounds like something I'd love and that my husband would absolutely detest :) Before he eats anything in the Winter or Spring, casserole or stew, he asks if there are a)turnips or b)parsnips in the dish! If there are, it's a no go :)

Posted - Apr 04 2010 : 3:44:00 PM Lasagna. My family, husband in particular love for me to make my lasagna. I make for families when a new baby is born or something like that. I had one young man tell me he hoped his mom would have another baby so I would bring lasagna over. :) He is one of 11 children.

Everything here sounds yummy!

Posted - Apr 04 2010 : 09:33:27 AM It depends on the get together but I am either greenbean cassarole(no one in the family can figure out what I do differently to mine! Ha Ha! Gotta love cheese!) or turkey. And I'm always told to turn the girls loose on the chocolate melter. They dip everything you can think of including ritz crackers! It's always a crowd pleaser.

Posted - Apr 04 2010 : 09:33:11 AM Why, a MaryJane's Bakeover, of course! It really has come to be a regular in my cooking routine. I make one about once a month. I have used any number of veggie/cheese/meat combos. I just throw in whatever I have that sounds good to me at the time. I use the recipe for the crust that is in The Ideabook, Lifebook. I add a bit more butter to it and add herbs and/or cheese to the crust. I also bake it longer than MJ does, as I love crispy edges. I usually just make it for my husband and me, but when we have shared it with others, they have loved it too. Just like soup, it has become a great leftover/fridge cleaner, allowing me to use things up.

Posted - Apr 04 2010 : 07:07:40 AM Sweet cream biscuits with honey butter, cream cheese dip (cream cheese, green onions, and chopped beef lunch meat), and spinach-artichoke dip with toast points. Notice a theme? Lol... I also almost always bring veggie trays or fruit trays to potlucks and parties. No one ever gives up veggies and dip or fruit, especially around holiday times!

Posted - Mar 20 2010 : 03:43:58 AM I bring or folks requeast my taco pie. It's a variation on those 7 layer Mexican dishes.
A good friend and I made one together once in her kitchen. I memorized the recipe by watching her. She thinks it's funny 'cause it's so easy to make. I do too when people start to rave.
So whenever opportunity comes up to make one, either for potlucks or just our regualr dinner, I always offer up a word of thank for my friend |
