Do any of you out there have a bread machine that you know how to use. I just got one second hand and got the manual off the internet. I can't figure out why the machine won't bake the bread. It mixes it and kneads it then it rises and then nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Ladies, thank you all for your suggestions. I did get it to work. twice now acctually. It is one of those once that you have to have the clock on it set at all time werther you want to use the timer or not. I set the clock and it worked like a charm. Not i just have to find a recipe for wheat bread that i like. I have made a couple loaves of white. Thanks again

Hello,
I love my machine its a West Bend Bakery style. It is my second bread machine. I used the first one so much it died. Don't mis understand I love to knead bread but life had just became to busy, so I went to a machine so that I could still have the homemade bread with out having to give up other things. My kids even said I need Bread AA as I baked more bread. Mine has many settings and one of them is for dough only and that is when it mixes and rises and does not bake so that would be my first suggestion is to make sure you are setting it right. The second would be that it's life is expired and the baking element is shot. Happened to my first one. One thing I learned was that fresh yeast is a must and the bread machine yeast does work better. Hope you can get it to work.

Pray for our troops to come home safe and soon.
Enjoying the road to the simple life :>)

I had mine out in the garage sale but it didn't sell. But that's not what you asked, right? Okay, I don't know about yours, and I'm assuming you've read the manual, so what I say may be something that doesn't apply to your machine or maybe you've already checked, but I'll share anyway.

Mine has several options, one of which is to just mix, knead, and hold the dough without baking. The purpose, I think, is that you can fixt doughs for specialty items like braided bread that you will fashion into the right pattern and then bake in the regular oven.
I have a touch panel, and one of the "buttons" has icons that show the type of options; one of them is for this type of thing.

I know that probably didn't help at all, and I'm really sorry. Can you talk to the person you bought it from? Maybe they can tell you what to do.

I do not know why it won't work, how frustrating!!!!- but if it is indeed broken and it is a regal kitchen pro let me buy the kneading blade from yah! I have one but no blade (and you cannot order them)which makes it about as worthwhile as a cinder block. Makes me wonder how much help all these gadgets are- plus I love hand kneading, so relaxing.
Good Luck, Rebekka

What brand is it? Could it be a setting or is the heating element or temperature control maybe burned out?
