Fresh basil picked first thing in the morning from the garden, squeezed between my fingers.....
The finest red wine vinegar made....
Berio olive oil...
Freshly chopped garden garlic....
A warm tomato plucked right off the vine, sliced with olive oil, garlic, fresh mozzarella cheese....
Fresh asparagus lightly sauteed in oo and garlic....
Tender sweet peas pulled from the pod one by one, eaten raw in a fresh salad, or gently steamed with lots of butter.
Tender green beans.....
Oh, I just realized that maybe I am a GARDEN-aholic!!
Come on spring!

Brenda, your post is making me famished!!!!! Oh, for a warm garden tomato right NOW!!! When I think of the literally hundreds that went to waste in our garden last summer. Well, I guess they composted so not a total waste. Hubby already has seed packets ready to go. Now that the weather has "warmed" to 40 (from a miserable 4 degrees last week), it almost seems like spring is here :-D!! 63 more days, I think. Can be planting spinach, lettuces, radishes, etc. before we know it.

I just bought a basil plant last night at Sunflower. It was so lovely and smelled wonderful. I need to repot it today, but I need to find some dirt thats not frozen!

Oh, Brenda, I'm with you! Our garden is usually so productive, but last year we had so many things to deal with... we had no time or spirit to garden. Can't wait for this year's bounty though!

And may I just add: perfectly ripe avocados drizzled with sherry vinegar!

Brenda,

Last year out of about 100 plants I got 3 cucumbers, several peas and one zucchini....oh and 1 ornamental pumpkin. I didnt do very well. I am not giving up though. I am going to get compost this year and do what I can to green up my thumbs from the gnarly brown they are now.

And you can come anytime you want and I will cook you up something tasty!

Ooooo Robin, can you send your leftovers to me??!!! And, yes you will be able to grow them, start easy if you're nervous about it!

I got my seed saver's catalog today. I sat down, forgetting about all the snow piled up outside, and the cold, cold weather we've had, and thought about my garlic sleeping under all that, and how I am going to put my basil and cilantro and parsley right up next to the house in the spring, and how I am going to plant lots of brussels sprouts this year, and heirloom tomatoes, eggplant, 3 different kinds of beans and squash, and way more peas as the grandchildren eat them before they ever see a bowl, and the field full of pumpkins, including pie pumpkins because of this past year's shortage, and an assortment of lettuce, and more basil plants, and oh yeah, tons of zucchini, because now everyone wants my canned zuke relish, and lots of peppers for my pickled peppers, and corn for corn relish, and scarlet popping corn! Whew!!! I know that was a run-on sentence, I usually don't do that, but I am just SO EXCITED for spring to get here!!!!

I cant wait for garden fresh foods!!!!I just hope I can grow them!

Last night was fettucine with asparagus and mushrooms and shrimp in a browned butter, olive oil sauce. It was finished with cotijo cheese and black truffle oil. I have some leftover. I am already hungry!

Patience smatience. I am already chomping and laying out plans for the spring garden.

Brenda, I'm with you. I LOVE all the produce fresh out of the garden. This last year I found myself smiling and giggling while digging up potatoes. It was WONDERFUL!
