Posted - Dec 17 2009 : 5:41:17 PM Anyone have a recipe for creamed peas to share? I'd prefer using frozen instead of canned peas, if that makes a difference. I've never made these before but I'm looking for a good holiday recipe that features peas and I thought this might do the trick. Thanks!

Posted - Dec 29 2009 : 1:22:58 PM My mom always makes a basic white sauce and adds a good tablespoon or two of Cheeze Whiz to make cheese creamed peas. Very good!

Posted - Dec 24 2009 : 8:44:37 PM The white sauce sounds just right. Hope it turns out for you. My cousin once made creamed peas for our family dinner to help my mom out with dinner, ..only, poor thing mixed water and flour instead of milk and water. We laughed over that "interesting dish'.

Posted - Dec 22 2009 : 8:52:37 PM Try adding a bit of finely chopped onion to the butter and cook till tender before adding flour when making the white sauce. Fabulous over turkey croquets!

Posted - Dec 18 2009 : 08:15:35 AM Excellent! My son planned our Christmas Eve dinner and he based it on the Who's feast in the Grinch That Stole Christmas. Still figuring out the Roast Beast! lol

Posted - Dec 18 2009 : 07:29:23 AM Yep...just a bechamel sauce. My favorite cream sauce recipe is from Fannie Farmer.
I use fresh peas in the Spring, but in the winter we use frozen. They keep their "shape". My mother also uses pearl onions in her creamed peas, but my husband WON'T have that at our house--he says he married me for my creamed peas, if that tells ya anything :)
