Posted - Nov 30 2009 : 10:23:30 AM I am canning turkey broth and soup today. . .The batch of turkey broth that I canned, after I took the canner off the burner, while the pressure was dropping, one of the lids popped off the jar (before I opened the canner) and then, after the pressure was down and I opened the canner, put the jars on the countertop, about 5 minutes later, another lid explosively popped off another jar (and some broth flew out along with it too--glad I wasn't right beside it)
So why did this happen? Any ideas? Thanks! |

I bet that gave you quite a start!
Had a lid do this while canning jams and such. Luckily my head wasn't over the jar either!
