This may have been mentioned here before, but I'm still a newbie. ;^)
I didn't become aware of the fact that you can use mason jars on certain blenders, until recently, in place of the regular glass containers. It works great to chop nuts, etc.
I have a Cuisinart Blender and the jars seem to work fine. I like it to grind whole nutmeg because my smaller Cuisinart coffee/spice grinder didn't do a very good job. Those whole nutmeg thingers (are they called berries or what?) are HARD. Still, you need to be careful what speed you use because I ended up with one batch of nutmeg that was ground sooooo fine it was almost not useable.
Anyway, just thought I'd pass on this tip before the holidays and all that baking which calls for walnuts and pecans, etc. Not sure this will work with all blenders (prolly not) but it's worth a try.

I had no idea....I have an old blener I'm going to have to pull out and see if I can fit a jar on it! Now I'm curious! :)

Yeah, I thought so too! I didn't even know about this until maybe a year ago or so. My older sister mentioned to me that she still has her "old honkin' blender" from about 30 years ago (it's olive green!) and she mentioned that it came with a mason jar but she didn't know why. She's like me -- never read the instruction booklet until and unless it becomes an absolute necessity!
At least now we know, huh?

My old blender came with a small plastic "mason" jar, I think the lid even said "Ball", so, yea, very cool that you bring up this topic. It's a great tool this season with baking and such going on! Thanks for the info Deb!
