Posted - Oct 01 2009 : 07:16:07 AM It is time to start going to yard sales, estate sales, auctions, etc. It is ALWAYS better to have too many than not enough. I have bought barrels full of jars at farm auctions for as little as $6 for two barrels. My biggest problem each year is finding enough rings. They never seen to come with those used jars. I have to stack my jars on the shelves and do not trust them when the rings are removed. |

Posted - Sep 30 2009 : 7:59:01 PM When ever anyone offers them, I take them, when ever I see any at the thrift or at a yard sale , I buy them. When they go on clearance, I buy them. I literally can hundreds of jars of differant veggys, fruits, sauces, meats and jams, etc every season. A good portion stays home, some go to friends and neighbors in trade, and many others go to the food bank. That does not include what is cracked or chipped and have to be recycled. I have run out in the past, and thats just not a good thing, LOL.
