My grandmother made an awesome Sour Cream Raisin Pie, but I did not get her recipe. Does anyone have a recipe they would share?

I forgot to say that I just use thick whipping cream (fresh) not the kind of sour cream that you use on Mexican food.

I also have a very simple recipe for sour cream raisin pie.
1 cup sugar
1 cup thick cream
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup raisins
1 t vanilla
Mix well.

Pour into an unbaked pie shell and bake at 375 for 45 minutes or until a knife placed in center comes out clean.

This has been a family favorite for about 50 years and it is so simple and fast.

Gail - my grandma always made Sour Cream Raisin pie too. My uncle always asked for that instead of birthday cake when he was little, sadly my grandma is no longer in possession of her pie-baking faculties so I have taken over that pie for tradition's sake. I sent the recipe in for the farmgirl cookbook too - I think her version used more spices than the one that Melody June found, if you would like that recipe too let me know

Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book "1951" Chapter 15, page 10

Sour Cream-Raisin Pie
2 slightly beaten eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1 cup sour cream
1 cup seeded raisins
1/2 recipe Plain Pastry

Combine ingredients; pour into 8-ince pastry-lined piepan. Bake in hot oven (450') 10 minutes, then in moderate overn (350') about 30 minutes, or until mixture doesn't adhere to knife. Serve warm or cold.
Plain Pastry
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
4 to 5 tablespoons cold water
A. sift flour and salt; add shortening. Cut in with pastry-blender or blending fork untill the pieces are the size of small peas.

B. Add cold water by teaspoonsfuls, tossing with a fork until all the flour-coated bits of fat are barely dampened. Stop!

C. Turn mixture onto a square of waxed paper. Gather up corners, pressing from the outside to from a compat ball. Divide in half, makes two crusts.
If you only need one freeze the other.

Smiles, Melody June
