Homemade doggie cookies I made today, yummy! They have bacon, cheddar cheese, oatmeal, brown sugar and other ingredients. I tasted them, they ARE good! Here's Daisy & Ollie...going on their 6th cookie! They LOVE them! The more I look at this pic, they are starting to creep me out with their big eyes.....like "give me more!", LOL

I love Beagles! Our Lucky is part Beagle and Blue Tic Heeler. I'll have to try your recipe for Lucky and our Doxie pup, Molly.

California or at least my county is the worst when it comes to that. I would love to sell my jams at our local Farmers Market or at a fair. Here you have to take safe food handling classes, have sellers permits, and have a certified kitchen (other than yours at home) by the health department. This state or county sure take the homegrown, homemade feel out of things. We have to adhere to almost as many rules as the big grocery stores! Even the growers at the Farmers markets have to have their farms or gardens inspected and certified. Unless you hide it and sneak around (yep, we all do) you CANNOT sell anything homemade or homegrown to anyone. It has to be given away. Kids here cannot even bring moms cupcakes to school on their birthdays anymore like we did when we were small it has to be store bought and sealed. Sorry about the sudden rant but, I get so mad at my state and all it's rules sometimes!

Warm Wishes
Jennifer

Hi Anna,

Yes I make my soaps year round....just lost my main source of income a month ago..a full time job i had. I wish my products would 'take off' and become a full time income. Last year I did many fairs, and most were good. Next month I am doing a large fair, I made a lot of money in just 1 day last year. It's worth it if you are doing a large event with a lot of traffic. I've seen people sell their jams at fairs, and people go crazy for them...I'd say go for it!

All you need is a 10x10' tent, some cash on hand for change, a chair to sit in and 1 day. The day actually goes by pretty quick. I’ve also seen ladies selling jam also have a jar of each for sampling. Have some ritz crackers or something on hand so people can try the jams. It’s that simple.

Have some business cards too. You can get them free at vistaprint.com -just pay like 5$ for shipping. You'd want people to be able to get in touch with you if they want more jams.

Thanks for the cookie recipe.

I love your blogspot too

So are you pretty much making your soaps and things year round?

I have so often thought about selling my jams and jellies at various venues but I know its a huge time commitment

Hi Sharon,

the recipe i used i found on the internet, but i didnt use wheat germ, because i didnt have any. (this is how i made it, slightly modified from the original one i found)

Bacon & Cheese Dog Cookies:

1 cup flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 c butter
2/3 c brown sugar
1.5 cups oatmeal
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 lb bacon, cooked and cut up into bits

Combine dry ingredients, add vanilla, egg, butter, then add cheese and bacon. mix well.

(i just spread it all onto a baking sheet) or you can drop by the teaspoon fulls onto ungreased sheet.

preheat oven at 350, then bake for about 15 minutes, a few minutes longer if the batch is just spread out onto cookie sheet. Let them slightly brown (you dont want then too soft) I took them out when I saw them starting to brown- so I cooked them longer than 20 minutes.

let cool, cut into small cookies/pieces (if you spread it out) and the doggies will LOVE them.

Make sure they are completely cooled, then store in an airtight container (like tupperware). I'd use within the week.
