Posted - Sep 22 2009 : 7:20:03 PM I eat a lot of soy, both in tofu form and as soy milk, gardenburgers, etc. I've never had a problem with it that I know of. But everybody's different. |

Posted - Sep 22 2009 : 12:00:56 PM My non-scientific opinion: I went on a diet once that recommended eating soy almost every day. That month I experienced the worst menstrual cramps of my life. I can't prove that they're related, but I have a hunch they were. |

Posted - Sep 21 2009 : 4:04:07 PM Tammy, While soy in its whole form such as tofu, tempeh, or edamame can be an allergin, the real problems with soy are in the form of soy isolate. When you read about all the bad press about soy, such as with breast cancer, it is with soy protein isolate. I have researched this being a vegetarian. I even think I have a soy allergy, but if I get organic NON gmo soy I do not have a problem. The problem is soy isolate is in everything now, food bars, cereal, supplements, bugers, faux meat subsitutes etc. It is a cheap chemically derived by- product that is almost always GMO, non organic, and very bad for your health. Keep an eye out for it. |

If you aren't feeling well, especially after eating soy, you might want to avoid it altogether for at least two weeks and see if you start feeling better. You could have an allergy or a food intolerance to soy.
