Posted - Sep 26 2009 : 4:36:59 PM Those grapes look wonderful! What kind are they? Are they used to make wine? Here in North Carolina we grow muscadines and scuppernongs. They are delicious and mostly used for winemaking. Tracy
Oops-should have read all the replys,I see that your grapes are used to make wine. www.cottagebythebay.blogspot.com |

You must have a lot of energy to make juice, jelly and raisins. DH decided we had a too big of harvest off of our concord grape vines to ignore, so he picked this morning - 5 very large buckets. I have been processing juice most of the day, and we gave two of the large buckets to the neighbors in exchange for some fresh figs.
I am tired.

Posted - Sep 25 2009 : 06:25:52 AM I have made raisins by just putting grapes in the dehydrator. I had to check them a lot at the end and rotate the trays. In my Ronco dehydrator, I found it best to leave the bottom tray empty because those raisins got a little dark, but I ate them anyway because they tasted so good. |

Posted - Sep 25 2009 : 04:43:24 AM Those grapes sure are nice. I know you are busy with the juice, jam and raisins, but when you get a minute would you please share how you make raisins? I've been wanting to try making raisins, but haven't found good directions.
Thanks Christine |

Posted - Sep 23 2009 : 06:33:19 AM Robin, I heard on the news that they were calling for SNOW... OMGoodness... REALLY...? That is so wild.. we are still in the 90's.. although the nights are certainly feeling like fall...Congrats on your harvest.. The ones that go through a freeze will make GREAT dessert wines and syrup.
