Nope. After how long I spend peeling and cutting up peaches to have a fair amount of quarts to last the year in between having to take care of my kids, the last thing I want to do is tempt fate with used lids. But. I do wash some of my used lids and then use them for storing up my dehydrated goodies that don't necessarily need to seal. My neighbor has suggested reusing the lids if the sealing compound is still there, but I just don't have the balls for that - just like I don't use the water bath canner [for 3-4 hours a batch] for green beans like my grandma did. To each their own.

I'm with those who don't re-use . . . I've even had new ones not seal. I dislike that a lot!!

I'll reuse if the seal doesn't have a real deep groove in it or if its for regular storage for something else.

When I make jellies to sell, I don't take a chance b/c the lids sometimes pop back up when I place a piece of fabric under the ring for christmas decorating.

I boil them 10 minutes and reuse. I keep an eye while they are cooling down to see if they don't take, but I've only had one or two never take. and the rest were still sealed when I went to reuse them. Sometimes I think we can overdue safety. It cost a lot of money to buy new lids every year, especially when you are putting up hundreds of jars of stuff. If you take the same precautions, check your jars periodicially, throw out anything that unseals or smells bad, as you do with all the other jars with "new" lids, then I think you are good. The biggest thing I think happens is that government agencies don't want to say it's ok and have something happen. People like to sue like the hot liquid warning on coffee cups now.

I only re-use for dry storage. I too wouldn't want to take a chance of wasting my efforts and all that time. Better safe than sorry :)

I do save the ones that are in nice shape so that I can. My Grandma reused them, and my Mom too.

Well, I have re used them also, but only the ones in good shape, and usually only the ones I've done boiling water-bath canning with, like tomatoes. I also re use some from jelly jars. I've had one or two not want to seal. I only re use them one time, though. I've never had anything spoil; except some corn, and those were new seals.

I have never reused the lids. I'm such a worry wart. I guess I have reused a few for storage. But not for canning. I think you are one very lucky lady.

I have never reused the lids. I always thought the rubber seal would not hold. I do keep the ones in good shape to use for storage. Almost everything I buy in packages goes into a glass jar for safe keeping.

I haven't ever re-used them except for non canning type storage. Sometimes I will store things in my fridge in my canning jars (leftovers) and I use the lids and used flats for that.

If you mean the part that seals. No I do not reuse them. I figure its not worth taking the chance on a bad seal. I dont want to get sick or lose a load of food.
