I recently made a lovely peach preserve and on the bottom of the recipe it said to eat within 2 weeks.....do all preserves because they don't go through any special sterilization treatment whatsoever have to eaten within a short period of time?
I will be receiving quite a bit of canned goods from my farm gal barterers...and I'm just wondering/???

Thanks for any advice gal friends.

Beverly,

It sounds like the recipe was not one to can. Most items not canned can usually be stored for up to two weeks refrigerated. There are recipes to can preserves. The Ball Blue Book of Canning is a great book to have. Your Peach preserves sound yummy! I am hoping that peaches will be ready here soon :)
