Ok....I'm guilty...I was SOOOOOO eavesdropping in the grocery on Sunday! Two older women were talking about someones famous old "Chocolate Cobbler" recipe and how delectable it was...

naturally, I come home and google it, but then thought....I better see if any of the farmgirls have an "old" tried and true "from scratch" recipe for this before I start baking every little recipe the internet has to offer...lol...

I have done that before with bread (any ol' recipe that pops up on google) with bad results...anyhow...since my grandmother and aunts had never even heard of it, I thought I'd start here....Thanks

It sounds like hot fudge pudding cake. Very quick and easy, and soooooo delicious.
Really great hot out of the oven with vanilla icecream. Yummy

Hmmmmm...it should be against the law for something that sounds so simple to make, to sound sssoooo delicious!! Fudge Pudding....lol....that sounds just as good as Chocolate Cobbler...tee-hee!!

I should have been a bit nosy-er at the grocery and just asked the ladies for the recipe...lol

I found another recipe on the internet, but unfortunatley it called for boxed baking mix and boxed pudding....not really a from scratch recipe...I think I'll try maggies recipe for sunday dinner...thanks ya'll!!!

This is what my Mom called Fudge Pudding. About the same recipe as Maggies. It is wonderful. Never herd it called cobbler though.

Thanks for the reminder. I have a bunch of kids comming for a Winner roast Sat. night. Wondering what I could make for desert.

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
6 tablespoons butter
1 cup self-rising flour
3/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups boiling water
Add to Recipe Box

DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Melt butter in an 8x8 inch baking dish while the oven preheats.
In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. Spoon this batter over the melted butter in the baking dish.
Stir together the remaining cup of sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle over the batter. Slowly pour boiling water over the top of the mixture.
Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until set. Serve slightly warm with ice cream.
FOOTNOTE
If you double the ingredients, use a 9x13 inch baking dish. Also, the amounts listed in the steps will not scale. Refer to ingredient list when scaling. Ingredients are listed in the order used.

Kelly - I couldn't stand it and had to know. I went to Cooks.com and found a recipe for Cherry Chocolate Cobbler. I sounds great. I still want your recipe if you find one, so please let me know.

I've heard of it, but have never had a recipe. Please share if you get a really good one.
