Posted - Jun 11 2009 : 7:50:35 PM I have never liked radishes. Just too hot. But they grow so easily, so again this year I planted them, to the assurance that DH loved them. As I harvested, they sat in the kitchen waiting to be eaten.
I tried one, breathing fire. But I had grown it, and felt proud, and endured.
THEN I got to talking to my farmgirlfriend, Graciegreeneyes, and we got on to radishes discussion, and how on earth can people in France eat them for breakfast? Now I know.
I sliced my fresh-pulled radishes, saute'd them in a wee bit of butter, and sprinkled a scosh of salt on them (Thanks Graciegreeneyes for the special measuring tool with scoshes and such and my inspirational apron!) and De-lish-ous!
I'm guessing the heat did something to the starches where the heat is stored and mellowed it right out. I ate a bowl full. Okay, a small bowl, but yum!
So, out to plant a second row tomorrow morning. Mmm.
We make a difference. http://huckleberrywine.blogspot.com |
