It's tax-time again, and I'm hoping to bring my purchase from last year into the house in the next couple of months. I have a 40s-vintage Chambers stove in my garage. I'm getting ready to drag the current stove out, and the old portable dishwasher and then retile the kitchen before bringing in my Chambers. After the stove comes in, I can put my washer and dryer in the utility room because they'd be in the way otherwise. There IS method to my madness!
There's a place in the city that has tons of old vintage stoves and parts, so I'm not worried about the bits and pieces I may need before it's all up and running. It's got a few places where the enamel has chipped, but I think it has more character that way. It has 3 regular burners, a deep well bean pot in the back and on the lefthand side is a griddle; underneath the griddle is where the broiler is. Way cool -- these were the "gourmet" stoves back in the day. It'll be so worth the cooking on a hotplate, microwave and toaster oven until I can get my Chambers up to speed!
Anyhow -- just wanted to toss the topic out there and see what kind of stories come up, remembrances or gems of wisdom. You ladies rawk!

You are very fortunate to have a Chambers! We just have a modern gas stove and an old wood burning stove in waiting.
