Posted - Jan 28 2006 : 07:09:47 AM Well Dawnn, we must be kindred spirits as I truly do love that song. I grew up in the concrete jungle and when that song came out, it spoke to me as That is exactly how I felt. Now, I am very happy to say that I do touch the earth, I break it in my hands, and I have grown some wild and unruly things!!!!!

2 c unbleached flour ( I use Wheatland Organic brand) 1/2 t. salt 1 t. baking powder 1/3 c organic shortening (Spectrum) I do not use CRISCO..it's bad for ya! 2/3 c. buttermilk (I use Organic Valley Farms brand..it is awesome!)
Mix flour salt and b. powder, cut in shortening..(it takes a little more working..)till well blended..add buttermilk ( you might need a tad more than 2/3 c., Mix well, knead alittle..roll out and cut. Bake at 400 degrees for about 12-18 min..watch them closely ovens vary..and enjoy. I usually double or triple the recipe..but this should make about 10-12 biscuits. These are flaky, and tall biscuits!
Blessings, Mumsie
