My grandmother's pound cake has been passed down for a few generations now, and I was feeling nostalgic earlier this week, so I whipped one up. I've posted the recipe (which I feel is fairly common) with my twist on it here: http://justafarmersdaughter.wordpress.com/2009/03/17/mamas-pound-cake/ if anyone wants to give it a whirl. Folks decided at school today that it was tops. It's always nice to cook for those who appreciate it!

Thanks!

If you're looking for an easy out for baking this is the one...The hardest part (like you said) was the mixing, until I got the mixer. It's about the only kitchen appliance that's worth the steep price tag it comes with.

WOW!

Your running commentary was the best!

And the pictures really work.

After a sorry attempt at ricotta cookies I may try this. Decided during all the flinging of flour, that I may just have to break down and buy a kitchenaid mixer. The cheap-o ones at regular stores are just too light weight and the bolw is too shallow.

I love, love, love pound cake....and ALMOND! oh wow!

So, next time it rains I may give THIS a try.
