Finally got my Kitchen Aid mixer!!! I bought it at a local kitchen store and the owner threw in a free beater. Used my Xmas money from my folks. It is a silver one and it looks great in my kitchen. What do all of you use your mixer for?? Fave recipes??

You should check out the "Sideswipe" attachment. It is a beater with silicone on it that acts like a spatula so you don't have to stop and scrape down the sides at all. I got one for Christmas. It's great! It's about $25.

I have to make that cheesecake! Thanks for sharing.

Victoria, Here is our favorite Cheesecake Recipe. It is a rich, dense cake.

The Ultimate Cheesecake

¾ cup honey graham cracker crumbs
¾ cup plus 2 Tablespoons of sugar
3 Tablespoons melted unsalted butter
2-1/2 packages (8 ounces) of cream cheese, softened
3 eggs
2/3-cup sour cream
2 Tablespoons heavy cream
1/3-cup milk
½ teaspoon vanilla

Mix graham cracker crumbs and 2 Tablespoons of sugar well and stir in melted butter. Press mixture into a greased 9-inch springform pan on bottom and along sides. (you may decide to double the crust recipe to make it easier to spread evenly in the pan).

In a large mixing bowl, blend cream cheese and remaining sugar until smooth. Add one egg at a time, beating after each, until fluffy. Add remaining ingredients and stir until combined. Pour mixture into crust lined pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 50-60 minutes.Serves 10.

My mom found me an older model at the Goodwill for less then $50 a couple of years ago and I adore it! I just bought the pasta roller attachment (came with two pasta cutters). I can't wait to try it!! I really missed making (and eating) fresh homemade pasta! (We moved into a place a few months back and the kitchen counters were too thick for me to attach my pasta maker to.)

I'm just having fun looking at my new mixer on the counter and DH likes it too. I can feel a cheesecake coming on!I have the smaller one because I think that's all I will need. I usually don't make big batches of anything except for Christmas and a fall bake sale.I really like stuff that lasts and it sounds as if everyone has had good luck with thier mixers.

I LOVE my Kitchen-aid :) I use it for everything and not just desserts or breads. I also use it to mix the meat mixture for meatloaf or meatballs.

Cathy,

Check out e-bay for a refurbished. They have a Kitchen-aid store. We bid on a KA Blender that was refurbished. It came with a 6 month warranty and was only $40.00 (a $120.00 retail price) It's worth looking into :)

I love my KA too! I recieved it for Christmas from my parents about 10 years ago. I think my mom was tired of me borrowing her's all the time! It is one of my most used "tools" in my kitchen!

I have a RED one!!I love using it for cakes and small batch items. But I must say, for bread making, mine will not hold up. I have the middle size KA for power and when I make bread, I use a recipe for up to 4-5 loaves at one time and of course my KA would not mix that much dough up.

So, not to change the subject here but I invested in a "Bosch Mixer". Man, you talk about power. It will hold, mix and kneed about 15 cups of bread dough at one time. It is 800 watts of power.

But I love my KA and use it for all of my everyday small task. And I do love the "RED" !

I lucked out; when my MIL redid her kitchen, her 'old' KA (about 3 years old) didn't match anymore so she bought a new one to match and gave me her 'old' one. :) Love it, and I dread having to buy one on my own someday.....I hope this one lasts and lasts!!

haha - I even TRAVEL with mine! A necessity, and I don't even love baking. I saved and saved to get one years ago. I did use it today to make cinammon rolls from my artisan bread dough. My husband and 3 sons love sweets occasionally, even if I don't. I also travel with my Cuisenart (Christmas gift from mom a few years ago) - my favorite tool of all, for pie and tart crusts, dips, etc. I am a total cook, but I don't love baking, except for bread and pies or tarts. I don't know why...

I got mine on Amazon for some ridiculously low price - I think it was $190. Both work like a dream. They don't always stock them though, so you have to hit the site's search once a day until you can grab them as they pop up!

I am in LOVE with my Kitchen Aid. I got a refurb pro model for fairly cheap, and that thing could mix cement if I asked it to. Mine's black, and I love it so much I got my brother in law a red one (he's a chef)... I'm now kinda jealous of the red one. ;)

I got my kitchen aid two weeks before Christmas - saved for two years so I could get the big one - I use it about every other day and find it makes everything mixable in the kitchen fun. Love it.

Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do!

I ADORE my kitchen aid! It is so awesome! It should have 3 beaters in the box. The Paddle, The Whisk, and the Dough Hook. I love mixing breads with it, making cookies- actually- everything! I feel like my kitchen aid is one of those things that is now a necessity in my kitchen. I would get rid of my microwave and blender before getting rid of my Kitchen Aid!
