Hi everyone!

My son wanted lasagna for his birthday party dinner, so lastnight I made this recipe for the first time. I've had it for so long that I don't remember where I got it, and I finally gave it a try. It was a huge hit - my mother-in-law said it was the best lasagna she'd ever tasted!

Lasagna Supreme

Makes 8 - 10 servings

1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound mild Italian sausage
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (16 ounces) tomatoes, undrained and cut up
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
2 teaspoons dried basil, crushed
1 teaspoon dried marjoram, crushed
1 can (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
2 eggs
1 pound cream-style cottage cheese
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
2 tablespoons parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
8 ounces uncooked lasagna noodles, cooked, rinsed, and drained
2 cups (8 ounces) shreded Cheddar cheese
2 cups (12 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese

Cook meats, onion, and garlic in large skillet over medium-high heat until meat is brown, stirring to separate meat; drain fat. Add tomatoes with juice, tomato paste, basil, and marjoram. Reduce heat to low. Cover; simmer 15 minutes, stirring often. Stir in mushrooms; set aside.

Beat eggs in large bowl; add cottage cheese, 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well. Place 1/2 of the noodles in bottom of greased 13x9-inch pan. Spread 1/2 of the cheese mixture over noodles, then 1/2 of the meat mixture and 1/2 of the Cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Repeat layers. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Bake in preheated 375 oven for 40-45 minutes or until bubbly. Let stand 10 minutes.

I like a lot of sauce, so I added a can of tomato sauce. (I made 2 lasagnas and I added an 8-ounce can.) I also didn't have any marjoram, so I used oregano instead.

Hi Becky!

Green Lane is about half-way between Philadelphia and Allentown, in southeastern PA.

I've heard of Somerset, but I'm not sure where it is.

We got a little bit of snow yesterday - just enough for my son and his friend to be out sledding. I hope we get lots more before the winter is over! I love the snow.

Have a great day!

Jenny,
This sounds yummy! Thanks. Hey where is Green Lane? I am originally from Somerset. Heading back for a visit in a few weeks. I can't wait for the snow.
Just curious:D
