Anyone have a good way to crack walnuts? I don't have a nutcracker and it is 10 below and I don't want to go to town to buy one! Making povitica bread.

Are you talking English Walnuts? Hold two in one hand and squeeze--usually works. If you are talking Black Walnuts just lay them out on a hard driveway and run over them with a car--WORKS!! no damage to the meat.

a small hammer and dont hit your fingers? just hit it on the side where the two halves join.
