Does anyone have a recipe for these?

It's the one with the chocolate and oatmeal?

I tried it the other day and must have aded too much peanutbutter

Sorry I had a typo in the previous entry. Try boiling the cookies to 225 degrees. Paige

I have made these cookies "forever", However sometimes we would have to eat them with a spoon, because they wouldn't set up. I found that using a candy thermometer and boiling them until they reach about 250 degrees makes them turn out perfect every time. The recipe I use is pretty much the same as everyone elses. these were the only cookies that i was a allowed to make or eat in my teens (i had constant kidney infections). Oh, and you got me to thinking about the cherioes xmas trees that i used to make and decorate with gumdrops. I have to go get some marshmellows, gumdrops and cherioes. oh oh oh.

2 C sugar
!stick margarine or butter
1/2 C milk
1/4 C cocoa

Boil all together for 1 min

Add: 3 C quick oatmeal
1 C coconut
1t vanilla
Mix together and spoon out onto wax paper on a cookie sheet and chill.


Each recipe is a little different but I bet they are all yummy.

My ungraciously titled "Boiled Cookies" calls for the following:

2 cups sugar
3 Tbs cocoa
1/2 cup water
1 stick butter--I usually use margarine

Mix and bring to a boil and boil one minute

ADD: 1 tsp vanilla and 3/4 cup peanut butter

MIX well, then stir in 4 cups quick oats.

Drop by spoon on waxed paper and cool.

We have never used anything but water as our liquid.

Hope this helps. I also have a recipe for Rice Krispie treats that are not made with marshmallow creme.

I kept saying it was because of the commute up to Norf., but he only tapped his fingers on the desk.."My Dear", he sez, "your Mother had this, remember?" "Noo!! I'm in Denial!!" So much for That Argument!!

I'm gonna shop for the ingred. to these cookies & use the stuff you suggested. Sounds soo good...I jus' have to keep tom away from them!! LOL

Swap the butter out for a lower cholestorol product - I know they are out there but I can't think of one at the moment. I Can't Believe It's Not Butter (I think) has a half butter half spread bar for baking that is made with omega 3 oils.
Then sub the evap milk for a ff version and you should have a pretty good product.
If the peanut butter bothers you - try tahini.

Good luck with the checkup.
You should look into herbs - I can't remember which one helps with cholestorol (aren't I just full of half information today) but my mom used cinnamon and turmeric and couldn't believe the results she got.

I'm under "strict" orders to get my cholestrol (sp)down in no time flat...plus I've recently been put on blood pressure medication ~ I've lost over 23 pounds in the last year, so weight ins't the problem (I'm @ 125) and I don't have diabetes -- But I do want to make Something for the holidays, that won't spike up my numbers for the heart or blood. I'm so not looking forward to not having any goodies thru the holiday, and I'm jus' dyin' to make up a batch of these cookies. But then I have to stop an' think of what my next check up will show. Yee Gads -- not another lecture from my Doc!!

Anybody got any ideas for me? Le' me know, 'k?

Anna, this recipe comes from the queen of these cookies, if there could be a queen of these cookies. She makes them all the time and they are SO yummy.

1 stick butter
1/2 cup evap, milk
2 cup sugar
2-3 cups quick oats
1-2 Table. peanut butter
6 level teas. cocoa

Combine first 3 ingre. Boil 1 minute, stirring occas. Mix in remaining ingred.Beat until thick. Drop by teaspoon on waxed peper. Let cool.
