I was asked for this recipe so thought to start a new topic so everyone can make it :)
This is a recipe I found in a Dutch magazine eons ago, tweaked it a little and made it very often. Translated it in English for ya, easier to read, lol!!

Enjoy when you make this, it is SO good!!

MARIAN's Cranberry Chutney :)

• 1 cup water
• 3/4 cup white sugar
• 1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
• 1 cup apples - peeled, cored and diced (I add a little more)
• 1/2 cup white wine vinegar(oh the fragrance when you add this)
• 1/2 cup raisins
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• ( optional:1/4 teaspoon ground ginger, I don't use this)
• 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
• 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

DIRECTIONS
1.In a medium saucepan combine the water and sugar. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat. Add the cranberries, apples, cider vinegar, raisins and spices. Bring to a boil, then simmer gently for 10or 15 minutes till most cranberries are popped, minutes stirring often.
2.Pour mixture in pots and let cool, then store in fridge

PS instead of the wine vinegar you can also use cider vinegar. I prefer the wine, the alcohol vanished through cooking (this is one of the tweakings I did, the original recipe stated cider vinegar, lol. Didn't have it at home and thought AH well, maybe this tastes good as well, and oh boy did it ever!)
You can keep it for quite a while when stored in the fridge! I make it in November and use it till after Christmas, just make sure you use an air-tight jar (or jars)

Enjoy!!

I made this last night. It was delicious, easy and quick to make. My family really loved it, the spices were perfect! Thanks for sharing the recipe with us Marian! I will definitely make it again for Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners.

I;m definitely going to try this, I love chutney and I love cranberries. Have you sent this recipe in for the Farmgirl cookbook? I know we need some recipes, and it would be a great thing to share....
