Any recipes? I'm new enough to canning that I'm bound to recipes! I've only made chicken soup and tomato soup (canned). Any recipe ideas would be appreciated!

The tomato base is enough for the acid which is what is needed at the lower temperature of water bath which is the temp of water to boil the pressure canner takes it to 240 which is needed for nonacid foods. Corn potaoes anything not acid and only in small amount not full cars can be process 1 hour for quarts 1 hour 15 pints as per Ball Blue Book of Canning.

I have done the base part for about 20 years and never had a bad batch.

Amanda,
I bet there is someone around you that has a pressure canner that you could barrow. If I only have a few quarts of soup I freeze it. If I have 7 or more I pressure can it. Never water bath, though I guess you could do tomato if it had enough acid.

I agree with Aunt Jenny, pressure can veggie soup. If you can either corn or beans by themselves then they must be done with a pressure canner so I would think that that would go for veggie soup. That is why I freeze my corn and beans because I am working my up to attempting a pressure canner.

Not trying to start an argument..but veggie soup should really be canned in a pressure cooker too. Maybe just tomato soup could be waterbath canned safely though.
I love to can up soups....so handy for just opening on a busy night for supper!

Depends on what kind. Meat soup NO. Veg soups with no meat yes. I will take all my veg with the tomatoes and green beans and corn and everything and can that then all I have to do is add left over meat heat and eat.
