lol..I dont know if its 80s or not, but that would have been the time frames I remember them from. When I was younger, Mom always had this foul smelling jar of pinkish yellowish goo sitting on her counter. I would love to have the recipe for it. I think it was a starter cake..or a friendship cake starter. I cant remember the name. I just know it took forever for the stuff to sit and sit and stink..oops..i mean sit...but it would make the yummiest cake. If anyone has this recipe and would share it would make my day!
Now that Im a mom, I want my kids to have memories of yummy cakes and stinky counter sitters like i did!

You're thinking of the Amish Friendship Starter. Not to be confused with sourdough starter. If you google it or check older posts on the forum, will find recipes. I only do sourdough, so can't be of too much help on that.
