Posted - Oct 24 2005 : 12:42:48 PM What is everyone's favorites??? I am really trying to buy mostly from the local co-op. I would love to hear what some of yor favorites from these types of stores are (Co-op's, trader joes, wild oats, etc...). I just hate to order things not knowing, & then not caring for them.
So far I like: Amy's Pizza toaster pops, for work lunches. Woodstock OG ketchup Dr.Bronners soaps

Posted - Oct 24 2005 : 4:56:38 PM I will check out Trader Joe's online - have never seen it here. The tortilla/beans/sprouts/cheese/salsa thing is my usual lunch! |

Posted - Oct 24 2005 : 4:46:57 PM Trader Joe's: I buy the frozen snow peas, frozen strips of peppers (three colors -- red, yellow, green -- all together), green tea Moshi (Japanese icecream balls, in kind of a rice coating). I also love their sparkling grapefruit spritzer -- so good!
My new favorite item there is their Roasted Pepita Simmer Sauce -- fantastic for simmering chicken and then serving with tortillas and/or rice. They used to have a great Chipotle sauce, since discontinued. I purchased 10 bottles of the stuff when I found out they would no longer be carrying it. I could eat black beans, rice, peppers and onions on a tortilla and a drizzle of that sauce every day.
Oh, and I buy TJ's Jasmine Rice and rice noodles. The roasted red pepper and tomato soup is wonderful -- albeit a bit pricy. But great for a last-minute lunch, with panini grilled cheese, and cheaper and better than fast food.
I buy their extra virgin olive oil, organic apple cider vinegar, black beans, pastas. I love the artichoke spread and their sundried tomato spread.
Oh, and their Peach Salsa and the Restaurant-style white tortilla chips.
Oh, and the kitties love their canned cat food and the cardboard scratching pad -- that is saving my furniture.
I've used their Citrus shower gel and they carry also Kiss My Face -- love that stuff, but it's pricey, so I give it to myself for my birthday.
As you can see, I buy lots at Trader Joe's. I haven't been disappointed yet -- and they do have a money-back return policy, if you do find something not to your liking. |

Posted - Oct 24 2005 : 4:46:34 PM MJ's Peasant Tomato takes the prize...a close second is her Red pesto pasta to die for! I enjoy Earthstone Organics Blue Corn chips. Seeds of Change makes a delicous organic salsa. Dr. Bronners peppermint soap is great...but can only get it in Manhattan ( a college town 70 miles from here) I like Eco Bella Shampoo too.
If I keep a green bough in my heart, the singing bird will come. |

Posted - Oct 24 2005 : 3:23:04 PM I love Amy's items, too, especially the frozen veggie pizza. I buy mostly fresh produce from our co-op - like all my lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and cucumbers (when I do not have any in my garden) because they are the best around. I also buy Annie's salad dressings. They are very good. I get Horizon organic milk. And Stonyfield yogurt.
But don't forget MaryJane has lots of organic lunch items for you to buy, too! And breads, and many other yummy items! |
