Posted - Jul 08 2008 : 2:05:49 PM Wow, I'm getting a lot of great ideas here.... I use Jane's Crazy Mixed Up Salt on a lot of stuff. It has that little kick of garlic.

Posted - Jul 08 2008 : 10:55:54 AM Cumin, garlic, basil, dry mustard, and chili powder are biggies...brown sugar, thyme, celery salt, and cayenne are the secondary line! My hubby is a chef in disguise, so we have all the spices one can think of...It's nice, but we use them so much it's hard to keep up with the purchases sometimes!

Posted - Jul 08 2008 : 10:45:08 AM I cook with a lot of fresh herbs, but in my spice cabinet, the most used are cumin, chili powder, cayenne, sea salt, garlic (and garlic), dried lemon peel, Herbs De Provence with Lavender for pork rubs, and I have these two very wonderful spice rubs for meat--one is called Butt Rubb for pork and barbecue, and the other is from some place in St. Louis that's a rib joint famous for their rub, that a friend brought for me. I use those for quick after work seasonings for chicken, pork, and steak.

Posted - Jul 07 2008 : 11:38:04 AM Chili powder. In everything. LOVE it!!! Oregano, garlic, marjoram, chives, onion, and basil are the ones I use most, in addition to the chili powder.

Posted - Jul 07 2008 : 10:44:35 AM We like Tony Cachere's Spicy Seasoning... We use that in alot of things.. and I use "Savory" on my veggies to cut down on the sodium intake (and here I just was talking about Tony Chachere's.lol!) I also like using Sea Salt instead of always using table salt..

Posted - Jul 05 2008 : 9:28:06 PM aside from the usual herbs I grow, I have gotten hooked on Morton's Hot Salt. If you like food with a little bit of a kick, it's total heaven.

Posted - Jul 05 2008 : 4:19:23 PM garlic, parsley, pepper, cinnamon, dill and chives. That reminds me, I wanted to add dill to the next loaf of sourdough I make. I've been craving dill lately. It just sounds really good right now.

Posted - Jul 05 2008 : 11:49:08 AM I use celery seed in potato salad and cole slaw. I love fresh thyme, which I have lots of right now, and it adds a certain something to my meat pasties, I have tons of fresh oregano in my garden right now, which i like to add to home fries, usually I put them in any italian dish. One of my favorite spices is lebanese sumac, it's a beautiful scarlet color, and adds a lemony flvor to many dishes. That i had to order from Penzey's Spices, they have an online store, and I had been looking for a source for a long time. Spices are so great, and I like to try out a new one every once in a while...we're fond of curry here too, curried chicken salad is yummy in the summer.
