I would like to put a cookbook recommendation out there for all you farm-gals. I'm sure at least some of you have or have heard of this cookbook, but it's sort of a new discovery for me and I am in love with it! It's called: Garden Way's Joy of Gardening Cookbook by Janet Ballantyne. This book was was first published in the early 80s, so the pictures are a bit dated but since I was a little girl in the 80s I love it! The book was reprinted again 10 years later in the early 90s.

I love how the book is sectioned, that is to say, all the carrot recipes are together, all the swiss chard recipes are together and so on. This makes it so easy to look for different recipes when you have an excess of one type of veggie, or you just have a particular craving! This book has tons of great (and new to me) ways to try veggies, it's not the same old same old. Janet also talks about best times to harvest, and storing tips so that you don't waste anything from your garden! This is definately a book to read from cover to cover!
