I just discovered that I have blackberries growing in my flower bed. I have no idea how they got there, but I want to move them to my back yard. Can any of you farm girls tell me how to do that? thanks!

April, that's a good idea. The limbs (canes) that bare fruit this year, will die off and the new shoots that come out this year will bare fruit next year. So what I am saying is, you may not actually see many berries this year if the plants just showed up. Typically, you move blackberry roots after October and before February. And they are very hardy (unless you really, really want them to grow). Good luck and I hope you get lots of berries.

I think that I will wait until they are ripe and I have picked them. That way, if they don't survive, I still have a few berries. :)

My suggestion would be to just dig them up and move them. They can be a horrible nuisance, despite their deliciousness. I'm not adverse to moving plants in the growing season even though I'm advised not to. Wild blackberries (especially the Himalayan) are ferocious plants, so wear good gloves while moving them.
