I went to a class last night where the teacher had lots of useful information about canning and food storage. Best idea I heard, though, was about storing water. She recommended filling up all your empty quart jars with water while they aren't being used. Great idea! They are taking up shelf/ pantry/ garage space anyway, might as well put something in them! Then, when you need the jars, just use the water to fill up your canner, water your garden, etc.

Great idea. Us in the north will have to remember to store the jars with water in it where it will not freeze : ) JoAnn

That's a great idea. I keep about 20 gal jugs of water already because we end up on boil order every spring due to run-off. But you're right. The jars are already taking up space.
