Seriously.

I was just in the office chatting with my mom about our plans for moving this summer and such. When suddenly, I hear shouting coming from the hallway and vaguely see my husband running back and forth a time or so in front of the door. I couldn't be sure, but I thought I heard "Fire Extinguisher" yelled a few times and the frantic sound in his voice made me curtly tell my mom "I gotta go" and hand up on her.

I run out to the kitchen and see flames about a foot and a half leaping into the air from my stove. EEK! So I run to the closet that has our half pint fire extinguisher, pull a tab while praying that breaking off that piece doesn't break the fire extinguisher, aim and fire!

Sure enough...the foam comes out and I am able to put the fire out. It doesn't look like it did any permanent damage, but my kitchen is now due for a huge scrub tomorrow!

Alee,
What an ordeal! We've had a full fledge house fire & some little ones. The latest was a child & microwave popcorn, 30 min instead of 3. Fun?!?!

I did find that adding vinegar (1 to 2 cups) to a sink of sudsy water along with drops of lemon essential oil, cut the smoke residue & the smell.

Happy scrubbing on a hopefully sunny day.

Alee, you've had quite the week so far! I'm glad that you have a good sense of humor about things, sometimes laughter is what gets us through the hardest times.

Oh gosh Alee, I'm sorry---and I couldn't help but laugh at your description of Doug running back and forth! At least nothing it permanently damaged, or anything worse than that. I think you're being tested, Alee and it seems like you've passed with flying colors. Nothing better than to laugh at our misfortunes :)

eek. Sorry! I did that myself on Valentine's Day...although it was just smoke and not actual flames. My house still smells terrible :(

I just have to keep reminding myself that these things are a process to bring better things into my life. Maybe this the Universe's way of making me save on fossil fuel emissions! LOL

I know you are moving soon. Maybe all these recent events are "out with the old, in with the new" so to speak.. Glad you are all safe & sound. & give Doug a hug for even being in the kitchen. When my hubby tries, I literally have to give him each step in fine detail(he works with the FDA a lot, so is used to extremely detailed docs), & instead of having the night off, I end up thinking & working way too hard.
