Does anyone have good recipes they care to pass along?

I recently started reading about this grain and thought to give it a try.

What especially piqued my interest is 1.it's a complete protein and 2. it has fewer carbs than pasta or rice? Is this right??

I have never eaten traditional breakfasts. If I had my druthers, I'd eat my dinner for breakfast and often times do!

I need a high energy food to keep me going all moring and not get tired from a carbo-loaded food coma crash at 10:30.

I'll have to skip the egg part. Unless it's cooked into something like a cake or cookie, it will make my stomach hurt bad all day. Egg substitutes do the same

Kind of why I eat dinner foods for breakfast sometimes

Hi Anna, let me know what you think of the "Heather Breakfast". :o) Eating scrambled egg whites with a slice of whole wheat toast and peanut butter is good too and mixes it up a little. I usually buy the low carb, 40 calorie a slice bread.

Lisa - thanks! The stuffed pepper recipe is really really good. Definitely don't skip the orange chipotle glaze part. Put the excess in a mason jar in the fridge and poor on any meat or just drink it. LOL I'm kidding....sort of.

Enjoy ladies!
Heather

Anna, I use it in stuffed bell peppers instead of the rice. It is a great way to use up leftovers if you have any. I have to say that I'm not that crazy about it so find that I have to Doctor it up a little. My husband loves it though!

Great recipes on your blog, Pickles. I really like the sound of the stuffed peppers with quinoa. I'll try that one soon.

Hey thanks ladies!

Heather, I'l give your brekafast recipe a try. I'd rather this than Hoodia, as I don't want to get jittery.

I tried some quinoa last night. Boiled it up no problems, then just added salt pepper and some olive oil! Boy, what a well well kept secret! Makes rice taste like mush

Hi Anna. You're right Quinoa is a complete protein....and it tastes great too. I sprang it on my kids without telling them what it was and they gobbled it up.....and they are picky eaters. Anyway, as far as recipes go. Check out my blog for quinoa stuffed peppers that are soooo good. I have to admit though, I've never eaten it for breakfast. You could make it like porage or cream of wheat and add a little sugar and/or cinnamon to it. I have found a few good dinner recipes on Marthastewart.com as well as epicurious.com. Oh I also have a recipe for Warm Quinoa and Spinach Salad with Goat Cheese. It's really yummy! Let me know if you want it and I'll dig it up.

What I have for breakfast is a protein shake with water, frozen bananas, a splash of OJ and protein powder and also a slice of whole wheat toast with natural peanut butter. It's a "complete" breakfast in the fact that it has protein, carbs and fat and I can go until 1-2 pm without feeling hungry at all. Anyway, I hope this was helpful.

Let me know about the recipe. :)
Heather
