I was wondering if any of you wonderful ladies had a good spiced pear recipe for canning? I was thinking it would make a very nice Christmas gift! Thank you.

Hey Julia, Here is a recipe you may want to try.
For 7# of fruit make the following syrup.
4 cups of sugar, 2 1/2 cups of vinegar,2 broken cinnamon sticks, 1 Tablespoon cloves, 1 Tablespoon whole allspice, 2 Tablespoons fresh peeled and chopped ginger root. Tie up spices in a muslin or cheesecloth bag. Put vinegar and sugar and spices in pot and bring to a boil. Add fruit and cook over medium heat for 30 min. Put in jars and seal. FOr fun and color add some cranberries to jar.( make sure that your fruit is firm before cooking. If it is to soft it willend up mushy. Enjoy!
