I'm looking to try to make sourdough bread and am looking for a recipe for starter...what recipe do you all use?

Thank you so much for the offer Ronna but I would like to try making my own so I can make it with spelt flour as some of my family members and friends are allergic to regular wheat.

Thanks for your recipe Corrine, I will write that out and try it!

I use 1 cup rye flour and 1 cup warm water. Stir it up well and cover it with a cloth. Add 1/2 cup rye flour and 1/2 warm water everyday for a week, stiring well each time. In 7 days it should be ready to use. Continue to "feed" each day, adjusting the amounts to get the quanity and consistancy you want.

What we write today slipped into our souls some other day when we were alone and doing nothing.

Elizabeth,
Unless you're wanting to make your own, I can send you some of mine that's been around awhile (think about 11 years) and is very hardy.
Ronna
