You know, in a way I actually found the Chad family inspirational (can you believe they're smiling?). Unlike most of cultures of the world today, they're untouched by packaged/artificial foods, which means they are still deeply in touch with REAL food - despite the horrific circumstances of their war-torn region. I imagine they are truly grateful for the food they have; it's not the gross indulgence we often shun due to our growing waistlines. Unfortunately, their menu likely includes genetically modified grains from "developed" countries, which is a detriment to us all. But such an enduring spirit shines in their eyes!

Makes you wonder though, if we really laid out everything that our family eats in a week on a table, what would it look like to others. We do eat the occasional double cheeseburger, we do drink soda, no one is perfect. Granted, those pics really made you think, they were awful, but how different are they from most normal families. Now the family from Chad, that was heartbreaking!

wow! Yeah that nc family would save 100 bucks a week if they cut out all the junk! Id like to read the book. I'm gonna look for it this week.

Wow! Certainly says a lot for "developed" nations now doesn't it. I figure the family from Germany may be chlorinating their own gene pool. What an eye opener...thanks for that Jen.

I think the families in Ecuador and Bhutan had what appeared to be fairly healthy and balanced diets. But that poor family from Chad. Wow. I am speechless.
Truly, with few exceptions, it all looked pretty much the same.

That was pretty cool...The family from NC needs to cut down on the junk food and the fast food--I mean, I know they have two teen boys, but YUK!!! Interesting how many families across the globe drink Capris Sun!!!!
I thought the family from Mexico had a pretty healthy diet until I saw the 13 Coca Cola 2 litres!
