Posted - Jan 03 2008 : 10:28:06 AM I found a book in one of my bookcases of Bake and Be Blessed by Father Dominic Garramone. I don't know where I got it or how long it has been on the shelf. It is about how baking bread can be a religious experience. It is a small book but it is just great!
Has anyone else read this? There used to be a PBS program called Breaking Bread With Father Dominic and this is the guy. It is inspiring me to start making bread again. It has been quite awhile. And it sure smells good in here! Lol.
May God bless those who love the soil,
Patsy

Posted - Jan 08 2008 : 10:11:58 AM I've never heard of this. However, I love making bread totally by hand and am searching for bread recipes.... Can anyone recommend any tried and true yeast bread recipes? I can't seem to get the bread I make to rise tall enough and I swear that I let it rise FOR HOURS!

Posted - Jan 03 2008 : 3:03:10 PM I watched that program on PBS I loved it, my husband enjoyed it too! He made you want to start baking bread right then. I had forgotten all about that show. Glad you reminded me.

Posted - Jan 03 2008 : 11:30:36 AM This was on a card I have; I thought it was lovely: "Be gentle when you touch bread Let it not lie uncared for, Taken for granted, Or unwanted. There is such beauty in bread Beauty of sun and soil, Beauty of patient toil. Winds and rains caressed it Christ often blessed it. Be gentle when you touch bread."
