Posted - Dec 23 2007 : 09:36:34 AM That sounds really different, Kristine. But yummy. I might try that one, myself, if I have enough eggs left after everything else!

Posted - Dec 22 2007 : 8:40:16 PM Debi, Here's the recipe. Enjoy!
Kris Kringle Puff This is a recipe that we have used since 1982. I bake it while we are opening presents.
Crust 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon salt 2/3 cup butter 1/3 cup cold water Mix flour & salt. Cut in butter. Add water stirring until it holds a ball shape. Press into cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes at 375’.
Puff Place 2 cups of water & 1 cup butter into sauce pan. Bring to boil. Place into mixer bowl 2 cups flour. Pour boiling butter & water mixture. Using a mixer beat until blended. Adding in 8 eggs, one at a time, beating well in between. Add 1 teaspoon almond extract. Spoon on top of crust & spread to edges. Bake at 375’ for about 50 minutes
Glaze 1 pound powdered sugar Enough milk to make a smooth, but not too runny glaze. 1 teaspoon vanilla While pastry is hot spread glaze & top with 1 cup coarsely chopped roasted almonds.
Cut into diamonds. Serve warm or cold.

I was born in VA and only became a North Carolinian in June 2006. However, after living on a sandbar 30 miles out to sea for the past 18 months, I'm ready to become a Virginian again.

Posted - Dec 22 2007 : 6:34:39 PM Oh, Debi, don't worry! I didn't mean for it to sound as if I took it the wrong way. Goodness, no worries on this end. You would have to do a lot more than that to offend me.

Posted - Dec 22 2007 : 6:22:45 PM I did not mean it that way, Vanessa. Please don't take it that way. I just did not want to try all kinds of recipes, thought someone would not mind sharing. Do you are born and raise N. Carolina? We had friends in N.C. at Fort Bragg.

Posted - Dec 21 2007 : 10:56:00 PM We call it Kris Kringle Puff & I make it for Christmas breakfast. Ours is a pastry. Pie crust, almond cream puff dough on top of that with an icing glaze & roasted almonds. Is this what you're looking for?
