Can you get bottles (as opposed to jars) for home canning syrup and other things that pour?

If you've got a home beer brewing shop nearby they should have the swing top bottles or be able to order them for you. A bottle capper for the little metal caps, should you use them, will run you from $12- $22.

Try www.morebeer.com or 1-800-600-0033

If you want a wide mouth canning bottle ( kind of looks like a wine caraf with a rubber gasket and flat glass lid, but no wire bail)the Weck company makes them.

If you are looking for the bottles and bottle capping appliance , I am pretty sure that Lehman's carries them. We made rootbeer a few years back and that's where we got them ( I think!)

Try http://www.western-plastics.com/. That's where I got the picture. Or you can google "swing top bottle".

Does anyone know where to purchase those bottles? I'm very interested in them, I am starting to make infused cooking oils and would love those for the oils.

My first husband's grandparents used to make their own ketchup and would put it in bottles. They always sealed it with caps like a beer bottle has. I think you have to have a special piece of equipment to do that though.

I was thinking of the swing top style bottle like you used to get beer in. I've done a little hunting and actually found a supplier near by! I was thinking of that style because of the rubber ring, I know I could get them to seal but this supplier also sells other styles of bottles, I just have to see if I that will work for me. Has anyone home canned with these types of bottles? Do you think it would work okay?
