I adore Pecan Pie but have never made one. Well this year there won't be a pecan pie unless I make it myself (MIL is going with only pumpkin and apple) So ladies- anyone have one to share with me??? Pretty please =o]

Oh YES, Big Boy is standing guard out front. We have the "mainliner" in Mariemont, from 1950, where the girls roller skated and you ate in your car. In this area, they're called Frisch's, and in Michigan, they were called Elias Brothers--and the sauce on the patty melt was different (i.e. blech).

Yep, they're vege soup and onion rings are the best! But, I am also partial to the Swiss Miss (Rye bun, burger with melted swiss).

Ok. I'm ready for lunch!!!!

The only issue, besides the premier I don'thave is the Kitchen one. Looks like I'll have to grab it quick and get to work. Thanks ladies!

Jonni- Back when I lived on the East Coast I used to stop at a Big Boy's in Scranton PA every time we went to my Aunt and Uncles house in Wayne PA. They had the best veggie soup and onion rings. Does yours have the Big Boy statue out front?

Jonni - Thanks for the "bug!" I TOTALLY hear you on that one. I'm on my second copy, as, uh, my first one got a little too "buttery" for me to handle - so I know EXACTLY what you mean. My guess is that MaryJane won't be putting out a laminated version, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to disassemble mine and laminate the tarnation out of it!!!

Thanks, Libbie--I actually have (the magazine) hanging out on my kitchen counter, so I will look at it tonight.

Hey, "bug in your ear", Libbie--Think Mary Jane could make a "laminated" version of just the recipe portion of the magazine? I don't wanna ruin mine, but it's hard not to touch it with buttery fingers when baking!!!!

Good Morning! I don't know of you all have MaryJanes "Farm Kitchen" magazine, but there is a TREMENDOUS pecan pie recipe in it. You will LOVE it! I've made it three times, and each time, I wonder why I haven't made it more. Give it a go!!!

AND, Jonni - Frisch's sounds pretty darn good, too!

Sorry, Beth--that's one of my favorite pies, but I've never made one. Probably because I think (now, do forgive me, ladies) that Frisch's Big Boy makes the ONLY pecan pie I'll eat. I've had a gazillion pieces of pecan pie, because hands down, I'll pass up apple and anything else for it, but even "Aunt Patti's amazing pecan pie" that all my dh's family raved (and raved) about was hardly edible in comparison.

I wish you much luck! I'm sure there are some good ones out there--why don't you try epicurious.com? They pull their recipes from Gourmet, Bon Appetit and Cooking Light publications (it's a Conde Nast thing)and I always have luck finding doable, yummy recipes there.

Frannie (Cabin Creek Kentucky) posted a recipe a couple of years back for Kentucky Derby Pie (pecan pie w/chocolate chips), that I'm making for the third year this year for Thanksgiving. You could ask her...
