Tonight I made Spanish rice. Here's how:

I started my Basmati rice cooking (takes 20 minutes)

Then I scrambled hamburger and drained off the fat. I diced and added half a white onion. I salted and peppered the meat mix. I then added garlic and onion powder to taste. I also added celary seed, parsly, and cayenne pepper.

I then added my home made tomato sauce and stirred in the now cooked rice. I let the rice absorb some of the tomato sauce.

Serve hot or cold. Mixture can be used as a base for a Super Burrito or served as a meal. Additional veggies can be mixed in too.

Yes, when my family makes stuffed green peppers, this is the recipe that we use!

And everyone- please do share your 30 minute meals! I love trying new recipes!

Here is another-

Buy the flat chicken breasts at your store that come frozen. Pull out a chicken breast and sprinkle on
Salt
Paprika
Garlic powder
Onion Powder

Cook in a 300 degree oven until done (usually 10- 15 minutes if your chicken is the same as mine)

Serve with fresh veggies or steamed veggies.

I make stuffed peppers but use the RED peppers instead. They are more expensive but have a great taste and don't get tossed to the dogs!

My parents LOVE stuffed green peppers, it's a favorite and frequent meal at their house. I disliked them as a kid, and DH does not like green peppers at all, or at least, they don't like him! I am going to save Alee's recipe and make it for them, DH and I can eat the spanish rice sans the "shell" or make burritos as Alee suggested.

Yum, that sounds good! It would also be a good filling for stuffed green peppers, wouldn't it?

This is a good topic line to add our own favorite recipes that take 30 minutes or less to prepare.
