"BAKED APPLE BUTTER

Use heavy baking dish. For each cup apple pulp, add: 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. allspice 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Bake 275-300 degrees until thick and dark. Can be sealed in jars while hot or cool before freezing."

This is as close as I can come to my grandma's recipe. We always used ground ginger in place of cloves and added a bit of apple cider, enough to keep the apples from burning...the scent in the house is heavenly!

Brenda, I might be able to answer that. I made this recipe, using pears from my friend's tree last night. I started with 10 cups of sliced pears and wound up with 6 half pints of finished product, plus about 4 ounces leftover. It was pretty good this morning on my toast :-) Judy

Thank you Judy.. countrygirl
