mikesgirl	Posted - Jul 01 2007 : 10:35:10 PM Just wondering if any of you belong to a CSA and if so how do you like it? My DD just joined one witn an organic farm in her area and LOVES it. We used to do Pioneer Organics but they quit delivering UPS and there's nowhere to pick it up close to Elma, so we don't do it anymore. But I'm considering joining a CSA because we try to eat organic, especially dairy and fruits and vegetables and there isn't anywhere close to here to buy organic fruits and veggies, especially locally grown. I can drive to Olympia for some, but not a very big variety.

We used to belong to one called PIoneer organics when we lived near Seattle - and we would get vegetables and fruits in there that we had never tried before. It was fun tasting and testing new things that I probably would never have picked up in the grocery store.
cmandle	Posted - Jul 02 2007 : 6:19:38 PM We bought a full CSA share from Rock Spring Farm (www.rsfarm.com) last year and loved it. We decided to just buy the "salad share" from them this year since we missed going to the Farmer's Market and choosing our own veggies too. The Farmer's Market is such a treat for Jackson on Saturday mornings. But NOW I find I'm missing my big full share box of veggies from the Farm and wish that I had signed up for more! Anyway, yes...we are CSA folks and absolutely love it. Awesome food at a great price and you can just feel good about it. We learned (and are still learning) so much about new vegetables too...it's great. Cindy Lee	Posted - Jul 02 2007 : 5:02:10 PM Ohh, that sounds like fun! We have one here but it's booked up and who knows when I will get a chance. We also have a food co-op that sounds great, you just have to volunteer. I heard about it at a Earth Day function. Sherri, I think it is money WELL spent! Let us know how it goes.
mikesgirl	Posted - Jul 02 2007 : 3:39:31 PM Sam (DD) paid $750 for a whole year of produce, which sounds spendy, but it's all organic, local produce and she doesn't have to put anymore money out for produce for a year. I'll be interested to see what's in it in the winter. Maybe root vegetables? They probably have a big greenhouse - I'm not sure.

And there is an organic farm that WSU does that is only about 6 miles away. I am not sure how much they charge, but you get a lot of food. Enough for 2 families to split. Just put CSA in you search and info will come up.
