MmmmMmmmm!! I made the Sausage Spinach Soup by PhilsAnn last night and it was delicious! It's rainy and dreary here and it made the whole house smell yummy and felt so good in our tummies.
We have a rule at our house that we started when we were first newlyweds. I had made something for dinner that my hubby said he liked so I made it again and again. Turns out he was just being nice. So we came up with a system, rather than have to say, geez, I don't really like what you just spent time cooking for me. We say just how often we would like to eat the particular dish. They usually fall under once a month. Sometimes I get once a year or maybe even less than that.
But to make a short story rather lengthy, PhilsAnn Sausage Spinach Sausage Soup is a once a weeker at our house!!

I received an email back from the publisher and he is working out a price for me. Hopefully I will know in a day or two and I'll let you all know with a new topic.

Please have more copies made. I would love to have a few. Already working on Christmas gifts, those would make some wonderful good gifts. Of course I would keep one for I missed out on the first ones.

Here it is, Maryjane Lee... I always double this recipe.

Sausage Spinach Soup

1 Tbs. olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
8 oz sweet Italian sausage in bite size pieces
1/2-1 can evaporated milk
1 c. potato, peeled and sliced or chunked
1/2 pkg (10 oz) frozen spinach, thawed (may use fresh)
salt and pepper to taste
fresh parmesan cheese

Heat oil in soup pot; add sausage and onion, cook until sausage is lightly browned. Drain excess fat.
Add broth and potatoes. Season w/ salt and pepper. Simmer until potatoes soft; add milk and spinach. Heat until hot.
Sprinkle parmesan cheese over bowls of soup.

Yep, absolutely! I'd like one, too. I don't know how I missed the first time, but what could be better--recipes from farmgirl friends!!!! Just another way to bring us all closer.

Actually...I'm just thinking here (yep, it hurts!). If there is enough interest, I could contact the publisher and get more copies printed. I'd have to inquire about the price for a short run print job, but all the setup, etc. wouldn't have to be re-done. Hmmm...

DaisyFarm Posted - May 22 2007 : 11:28:55 PM
Every single copy sold...all 190 copies! It was such a fun project, I truly enjoyed doing it and got to "know" some of the greatest gals here on a more personal level. Maybe we could do a Volume II in the fall when everyone's summer work load slows down.
BUT..next time Libbie HAS to include her Red Velvet Cake recipe (start looking for it now Libbie!). And I'm still not sure I'm not just going to go live at Ann's house!!

Oh, here is a link to the original info on the cookbook. In November many of the MJF farmgirls compiled their favorite recipes and the lovely miss DaisyFarm printed and shipped them out. Unfortunately I think they have been sold out for months (maybe we'll hear from DaisyFarm on that one), but I am still enjoying the recipes!

ps. If you scroll through the link you may find the recipe too. MmmMmm

Meg - that is SUCH a good way of "rating" meals! I've made things that my husband doesn't like, and I was just sure that he did...because he SAID SO! And that soup sounds divine - it's on this week's menu!

XOXO, Libbie

KYgurlsrbest Posted - May 22 2007 : 12:40:58 PM
That's a good rule of thumb, Meg...I usually know (if he doesn't like it) if I have to ask him if it's good. If I have to ask, he's not really thrilled. Usually, before I even get my food cut, he's "oohing" and "aahing" about the meal, so I don't need to ask :)

Where do we get this cookbook?

Meg that is such a good rule. My hubby and I do that too! It makes my feeling much less hurt when he doesn't like something and if I like it I still know I can go back to it once or twice a year!
