I got my mom's bread machine the other day for she doesn't use it anymore and today I actually made some bread. Now, I have tried making bread without one but never could get it come out to where you could eat it. I made the potato bread and it turned out fine. I just couldn't wait till it cooled to cut into it. I beleive I'm sold on homemade bread now, no more sunbeam bread for me.
What are you favorite bread and any tips on the usage of the machine I would greatly apperciate it.

I got a bread machine from another girl in this forum and I am so happy with it. I got a book that only has bread machine recipes in it and I use it all the time. It's called BREAD MACHINE MAGIC by Linda Rehberg and Lois Conway. I have made a lot of recipes already and they are all good.

Enjoy the machine! I love it.

I LOVE my bread machine! Mom bought one ages ago when they were new (she is a true-blue gadget collector.) It was a Dak, it was a big tube with a clear bubble top and looked for all the world like the robot from Star Wars, R2D2. In fact, that's what we used to call it instead of "the bread machine" ;)

The breadmaker came with a book of recipes, my absolute favorite is the whole wheat:

1 package yeast
1 c white flour
2.5 c whole wheat flour
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 Tbsp butter
3 Tbsp dry milk
1.5 c water

I don't have dry milk, so I use 1 c water & 1/2 c milk. I also don't use the machine to bake the bread, generally only to mix and raise it. However you make this one though, it makes a nice, fluffy loaf with a lovely crispy crust.
