You could make nut and dried fruit granola! Great for the fall and winter months when you want something that is substantial!

Puree some strawberries, then strain. Use a few tablespoons into a champagne flute. Then add sparkling wine, juice or even champage for a yummy drink! Works with all fruits! You can add simple syrup to the mixture in the blender. Usually 1/3 cup of simple syrup.

Simple syrup is one part water to two parts sugar dissolved. YUM YUM YUM!

Ahhhh yes. Before the season quickly ends I must try out a few in the new dehydrator!

I also bought graham cracker crumbs...these are good over berries drizzled in chocolate

I make a couple batches of strawberry muffins and pop them in the freezer for those lazy Sunday mornings when you might end up with company. They are delicious w/ homemade butter and strawberry jam.

Recipe: Any blueberry muffin recipe works just substitute diced strawberries and everyone thinks you are a marvelous and creative baker! Bon Appetite!

PS...last year I had a batch of jam that wouldn't set so I made strawberry syrup and people are already asking me if I am making more!

When I was purchasing strawberries from the CSA sometimes you get a ton in your box so I dehydrated them. I have a Dry It dehydrator and I just sliced them up and now I use the dried strawberries on my cereal or in my yogurt. Sometimes we crumble them into pancake batter and have strawberry pancakes.

Oh. My. Goodness. ** 44 POUNDS OF STRAWBERRIES **????

I am so in awe and envy! We won't even have strawberry season here for another month - give or take. Wow - I don't even think I could trust my 7 y/o to help me pick - he'd be eating every other one, I'm sure .

Well, I make a funny little desert that's like a "faux" shortcake. I stem a big 'ole bowl of strawberries first thing in the a.m. and slice them in half...unless they're really big, then I quarter 'em. I pour about 1/4 cup of water over top and microwave 'em about 5-6 minues until they're all watery and mushy. Then I put them in the fridge all day to chill them.

That night at dinner, I get out a half-gallon of vanilla ice cream to get it softening and mushy. When dinner is done and the dishes are cleared and in the washer and the counter is all washed off, I slice up an angel food cake (using waxed dental floss is the best way to slice an angel food cake - just make sure that it is non-flavored wax.) Then I put a scoop of the mushy vanilla ice cream on top and ladle some of the soupy strawberries over that. The cake mops up that sweet, soupy, strawberry-vanilla goodness. *YUM YUM YUM*! That's heaven on a plate and better than some things you may have done with your mate.

What about drying strawberries for use in cereal and such through the winter?

How about strawberry syrup for pancakes? Or dry them and enjoy them in the off season too. Pretty good tossed into a spinach salad.

We make a difference.

We've had strawberry shortcake, strawberry pancakes, strawberries with waffles, strawberry sorbetto, I am making gelatto today, I like to eat them with granola and yogurt myself, smoothies will be for after school with a little yogurt and wheat germ. We took some to friends. There is only one u-pick in this area it's 45 minutes away. But we will go back for more Saturday. our season here is so short normally, but this year it is ultra short due to a wet summer and warm winter. Slim pickens, but they still taste good! Thanks for all the yummy ideas!

I picked 44 pounds last week and will go back a bunch more.

We ate on strawberries all week.

I like them with a bit of confectioer's sugar or sliced with bananas under chocolate syrup and whipped cream

and you still can't beat the shortcake recipes

happy picking to everyone else too!

Oh I love to make smoothies/shakes out of strawberries. Thats if my youngest son doesnt eat them all before I can get to them. He loves strawberries! Strawberry shortcake is oh so good, mmmm! And I think ice cream would be a great thing to make with them, yum! Chocolate covered strawberries would be something I couldnt pass up either. Those are my ideas. Now I am going to have to find a farm and go picking myself. Mmmm! Strawberries!

I like crushing a few graham cracker pieces into a bowl, spooning a bit of vanilla pudding on top of that and then topping with fresh sliced strawberries.

Another thing I have done with them is to make banana and strawberry shakes..use about a cup of strawberries a banana or two and milk and ice and a touch of vanilla extract and sugar to taste..or splenda.
blend in your blender.

If you want an all fruit smoothie use a fruit juice blend or orange juice and toss in a banana and about a cup of berries.and plenty of ice.

I also like to use strawberry flavored yogurt and layer the yogurt and berries and crushed graham cereal or graham crackers in a dessert bowl.

Of course another thing is to make some good old fashioned biscuits. And make a strawberry warm sauce by taking and heating your beries in a small saucepan with some sugar.
Let it cook down for a little while to thicken. Then cool. Spoon on split biscuits and top with whipped cream topping.
and garnish with a few fresh sliced berries.

you can also toss a few fresh sliced berries into a salad and top with a poppy seed dressing.

Another thing is to make a fruit salad using mandarin oranges-drained, fresh sliced berries, apple chunks, some marshmallows, some pecan or walnut pieces, a can of fruit cocktail drained, and a tub of cool whip
if you want to add even more flavor to the fruit salad..add a can of drained crushed pineapple and a pkg. of pistachio instant pudding and mix it all up well.

Anyhow can't you tell that strawberries are one of my favorite fruits?

Enjoy!
