Hi ladies! Let’s do some Mail Art!

For those who do not know, I have had the privilege of taking over Mail Art! This year it will be occurring every other month and our first Mail Art of the year kicked off in May with a beautiful start. So, for clarity, it will happen in May, July, September, and November for this year.

For this months theme I was trying to think of a really good summer idea when MaryJane reminded me that this July 4th is the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence! So what a great excuse to celebrate our country with some patriotic mail art!

This prompt excited me because it could be taken in so many directions! Your art can be as simple as creating an American flag with a collage of colored paper or magazine scraps. Or you could do an homage to what you love about the USA or the great things that have come out of the USA in the last 250 years.

I personally can't help but think about America being the birthplace of jazz, one of my favorite genres of music. So maybe I'd pop on some Miles Davis and create a kind of red, white, and blue of my own!

I do ask, as mentioned in the guidelines of this chatroom, to please keep politics out of your Mail Art. There is so much we can connect with within the umbrella of the USA that is not political.

If this is your first time signing up for Mail Art, please visit the topic Farmgirl Mail Art to read our guidelines.

For July Mail Art, please leave a comment on this thread stating you'd like to join in. Sign-up is available through June 19th.

I’ll send an email with your partner to you by June 26th. Please send your Mail Art before July 31st and be sure to include enough postage for your Mail Art to reach its destination.

Please post a comment on this thread once you receive your mail art to let your sender know that you received their art. If you can add a picture, we’d love to see your mail art!

If you have any questions or concerns, please send me an email. I'm happy to help! My email is clara@maryjanesfarm.org.
