Posted - Aug 01 2016 : 09:06:42 AM It's time to sign up for August Mail Art. I can't believe we're in our last month of summer already!
If this is your first time signing up for Mail Art, please visit the topic Farmgirl Mail Art to read our guidelines. Then leave a comment on that post if you want to participate and I will contact you.
FOR AUGUST, please leave a comment on this thread stating you'd like to join in. Sign-up is available through August 15. If your comment appears after you've posted it, that means you're on the roster.
The month of August holds Friendship Day as well as Sisters' Day, so it's a perfect time to celebrate each other here on the Forum. No one does friendship and sisterhood as well as us Farmgirls, so let's make a little something to show our love for each other.
I will send an email with your partner to you on August 16. Please send your Mail Art before August 31.
I'd like to encourage everyone to post a comment on the current month's thread when you receive your mail art. And if you can, a picture is nice. A quick thanks lets your partner know you received your mail art.
A couple more things to keep in mind: 1. Traditionally, Mail Art has been "secret"; part of the fun is receiving a surprise package from a surprise partner. I would encourage you not to tell your partner who you are until a reasonable amount of time has passed for them to receive your art. 2. Please be sure to include enough postage for your Mail Art to reach its destination :)
If you have any questions or concerns, please send me an email. I'm always delighted to help.
Happy Swapping!

Posted - Sep 12 2016 : 10:59:11 AM Thank you so much for my mail art! My computer is being difficult and I can't seem to get a picture posted, but I received a really neat picture of some little girls and a really neat bookmark and a couple of other things. Thanks so much! I didn't receive a note so I don't know who my swap partner is, I tried to make it out on package but post office kind of mangled my package. This has been so much fun:) |

Posted - Sep 09 2016 : 7:56:50 PM Thanks Aimee for sharing. My mother and grandmother crocheted beautifully. I am self taught and never learned to read the directions. The internet is awesome with tutorials on you tube, etc. I will try this. Thanks again.

Posted - Sep 09 2016 : 6:13:57 PM Bleeni, that is pretty neat! Thanks for sharing, maybe a bunch of us will give it a try. My Grandmother used to crochet a lot, seemed tricky to me -

Posted - Sep 09 2016 : 03:58:39 AM Sara I felt the same as you about four years ago. A friend taught me how to crochet just the single crochet stitch so I could make these bags. The I found Margaret Oomen's http://www.purlsoho.com/create/2010/07/18/margaret-oomens-little-urchin-crochet-covered-sea-stones/ and adapted her pattern to my limited skills. I make the cover and then insert the stone and make a gather at the back to secure the cover. I'd say it takes maybe 1/2 and hour.

Posted - Sep 08 2016 : 3:25:12 PM So Bleeni, please forgive me, but of all the things I've taught myself in life, I've never mastered crochet. Are the rocks tucked into them after the fact, or do you crochet right around the stones? And how long does it take you to turn one out? |
