Posted - Mar 01 2016 : 4:20:36 PM I hope you're feeling "lucky" that it's March Mail Art
If this is your first time signing up for Mail Art, please visit the topic Farmgirl Mail Art to read our guidelines. Then leave a comment on that post if you want to participate and I will contact you.
FOR MARCH, please leave a comment on this thread stating you'd like to join in. Sign-up is available through March 15. If your comment appears after you've posted it, that means you're on the roster.
This month, we'll keep on with our theme and challenge that we started in January. Beth Farmer has chosen for us this month and our theme will be Window Sill Art. I just love that! And since St. Patrick's Day is upon us, our challenge will be to add a shamrock or two to our creations. And as always, if the theme/challenge isn't right for you, feel free to "march" to the beat of your own artistic drummer.
I will send an email with your partner to you on March 16. Please send your Mail Art before March 31.
A couple of things to keep in mind: 1. Traditionally, Mail Art has been "secret"; part of the fun is receiving a surprise package from a surprise partner. I would encourage you not to tell your partner who you are until a reasonable amount of time has passed for them to receive your art. 2. Please be sure to include enough postage for your Mail Art to reach its destination :)
If you have any questions or concerns, please send me an email. I'm always delighted to help.
Happy Swapping!

Posted - Apr 20 2016 : 8:57:50 PM So glad your pkg finally made it cross the border!! It was such a cute lil bird before I even started... but it was one of those things that just took on a life of its own. Originally I wanted to put a frame on the back side and fake curtains on the front so it could be your "window" anyplace you needed a view of nature. But there seemed to be no way to add those without blocking the really cute details on Mr Birdy. Did you notice his super chic purple mohawk?
Also, I failed to mention that the frame is balsa wood and is pretty fragile if held the wrong way. I was hoping to slide it into a bubble pack to save postage but after working with that very light weight wood, I found that it needed much stronger protection for shipping.
Anyhow, happy you like the little bugger.

I must appologize to the wonderful sister who sent me Mail Art for March. Michelle is an awesome artist. When I opened up the box that she sent it was just one layer after another of beauty. She has been studying fiber arts and surface design. She used those skills to tell a story for me about her world and her future. Such a lovely gift. I also love the insulater. My step mother has a collection and I am always a little jealous when I see it so now I have a start for my own. I also love birds, bugs and anything outdoors so everythng you sent is greatly appreciated. Anyone who gets you as a partner in the future is very lucky. |

Posted - Apr 13 2016 : 3:13:39 PM I'm glad you liked it! I wasn't sure what window sill art exactly was so I went with the option of hanging it in your window lol. I liked yours so much I made a similar one for myself! It was also a good craft for my girls and they made their own. It looks like two of the "clovers" are stuck together in this pic. Shipping. Ugh. I also meant to write a note but I was in a hurry to get it in the mail, it sounds like many of us were a bit late this month! I found the driftwood on the beach after we ate at our favorite Irish pub (where we actually got married). So while the flowers don't exactly look like clovers like I had in mind, It was very Irish inspired.

Posted - Apr 12 2016 : 4:49:34 PM Oh Marilyn, thank you for your encouragement. Each week gets a little tougher and still we manage. I never thought the emotional fatigue would outweigh the physical, which isn't exactly a light load, but often it does. I'm so sorry to hear that you and your sister are not as close as you'd like. You never know, there is always hope. . . And I'd like to say that I'm truly thankful for all my farmgirl sisters as well. We share a kindred spirit here. I feel like I'm apart of a huge quilting bee, ladies church social, and gossip gang. Sharing and caring, while we craft, stitch, pray, praise, plan, read, write, sing, listen, grow, learn, teach, inspire, aspire, reflect, reveal, revel, reap & sow. (Believe me, I could go on and on!)
* * * Positive people loving on one another. Gosh, what more could we ask for? * * * Once again, I thank you all for making this experience so rich and rewarding.

Posted - Apr 08 2016 : 3:52:50 PM Doris, that is a sweet story. I am glad you and your sister are so close. I have often wished my sister would be my friend. Unfortunately the middle child in her is so critical of me and my country lifestyle, it will not happen. She wanted to live in big D, moved there at 20 and now at 70 she still loves freeway madness, and her city ways. I have had my husband for almost 54 years. She has had two plus several relationships. She can not find one who is perfect. I have tried to reason with her over the years but gave up. I love to see stories like yours. God has truly blessed you. I have been down the road you are on, caring for my mother for five years. I will pray that God will help you through this time.

Posted - Apr 08 2016 : 1:28:17 PM Rochelle,
Your story was so touching. Thanks for sharing. It's nice to hear the reasons why we hold things near and dear to our hearts. My sister means the world to me as well. We almost lost her years ago in a head-on collision when she was just a mere 18 years young. Thankfully she recovered and was able to have children (which was questionable at that time). My life has been so deeply enriched by my only sister and her lovely offspring. We were close when we were younger but I was older and held more of an authoritarian position with her since I was often the closest thing to an adult that she had. But as she grew into a woman, we have evolved to a more sisterly relationship and are more like best friends now. We are unfortunately caring for an aging and ill mother at this time but luckily we lean on one another and find strength because of our bond when times are tough.
Life is indeed precious!
Hugs to you, dear.

Posted - Apr 07 2016 : 6:06:01 PM To my March MailArt sister who shall remain "Anonymous" for now),
Please don't fret that you haven't received your pkg. I've been the host to one Mr. Murphy S. Law here of late! I think he's actually moved in the spare bedroom and brought his two brothers, Broke and Stupid as well. We just can't seem to get a break around here. . . unless you count breaking a bone!
Anyhow, your March Mailart pkg will be on its way to you tomorrow. Hopefully you will receive it early next week.
BLESSINGS TO ALL MY FG SISTERS!

Posted - Apr 07 2016 : 1:12:25 PM My package just arrived and I love it! Thank you so much Mary!!! The spring sign is adorable and now hanging in my sunroom. I like looking that direction and seeing the sign and the background of trees. I have already hung the inspirational towel and have placed one of my plants on the linen doily. I really love doilies! The pattern and card are so cute! Thanks again for everything. Jayme
