Posted - Feb 25 2014 : 09:56:52 AM Mail Art is defined simply as sending small scale art works through the postal service. It took root as an artistic movement in the 1960’s and it is still enjoying a quiet fame today. We hope Mail Art will foster personal communication and creative expression between members of our Farmgirl Sisterhood.
Once a month, make a fellow sister feel special by sending her a little something in the mail. Draw it, paint it, stitch it, glue it, hammer it, however you choose to express yourself, share it. If you aren’t feeling inspired to make something, consider sending an old photograph or some other cool piece of vintage ephemera. The possibilities are literally endless, but keep in mind that two-dimensional items are less expensive and less bulky to mail.
Pay It Forward Program: Are you one of our farmgirls who itches to create and loves to help out? Craft us up some extra mail art to stockpile for that rainy day when one of our sisters needs a little help making her deadline. She will add back to the stockpile when she can, knowing her trading sister wasn’t left without sunshine in her mailbox for the month
If you would like to join us, here are our guidelines:
TO SIGN UP, please post a comment under the current month’s mail art thread in the forum stating that you would like to participate.
SIGN UPS for each month's mail art are available from the 1st to the 15th. I will send out an email on the 16th of each month to let you know the name and address of the person to whom you’ll send your mail art. Please respond to let me know you’re rip-raring to go, and then get something beautiful in the mail prior to the last day of the month.
The MAIL OUT DEADLINE to your partner is the last day of the month.
Please post pictures and thank you notes under the current month’s topic in the forum.
If you find you cannot make a deadline, please let me know immediately so that I can make other arrangements for the farmgirl who would have received your mail art. You can add to the Pay It Forward Program if you’d like to make-up any swaps you’ve missed.
It will be so exciting to get to know each other through our art! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to send me a message.
Happy Swapping, Kristine

Posted - May 10 2016 : 1:07:42 PM I would love to get in on this! Whenever I find a fun new sewing pattern to love, I make a few extra just for fun, even if I don't need more :) It would be great to trade with someone else!
I see many people posting their number but I am not sure what mine is, do I need to find that out to be able to participate? Thank you! |

Posted - Mar 25 2016 : 11:01:11 PM Running waters has sent mail art on this past Thursday. The thing that I did was crochet shamrocks, strung on ribbon. This is a way to use it as a garland for St. Patrick's Day.
Have a blessed day. |
