Posted - May 02 2018 : 07:15:14 AM Here's the story of our search for a camper...let's just say it took some time, but finally, a sweet little 1963 Yellowstone is in the driveway! (And I really need to quit sitting in her and pinching myself to believe she's really ours...because spring cleaning is falling WAY behind!)

Posted - May 07 2018 : 05:32:05 AM Thanks ladies for all your comments and making me feel so welcome! Yesterday I just enjoyed a couple relaxing hours in Maizy catching up on Netflix while the hubby took his Sunday nap and the kids finished up some homework. I love this little hideaway...now I can see why you're all so excited with your own campers! Looking forward to hearing more about all your summer escapes!

Posted - May 05 2018 : 10:57:43 AM Oh you're too kind Dianna...but I can't take the credit...Maizy was painted and ready to roll when I got her! I was soooo fortunate...she'd been painted inside and out, and the gal before me had made curtains and cushion covers. Now I get to do all the fun little extras inside! When I get the last thing in place, I'll be sure and post a few pix. One thing I'm learning is that with a 13 foot camper I can't do too much or she looks cluttered! Thanks again!

Posted - May 04 2018 : 05:45:40 AM Grace thanks so much...that made sense, a spot to tuck things we might need, but the screen threw us.

Posted - May 03 2018 : 11:32:39 AM Mary that is a utility storage...for your jacks, water hose, elect cord... etc. Sounds like a previous owner modified it.
On my '63 Serried Scotty the lil door is located at the rear driver side and on my '71 Aristocrats it is on the front passenger side... same for my '49 Viking. Back in the day... a lot of trailer manufactures. Subed out work... my Scotty is a good example... the door and storage set up is not typical of what is in the Brochure .... lol!

Posted - May 03 2018 : 07:00:19 AM Here's a question I can't figure out...look at Maizy's photo...see that little square silver door to the left of the main door? It has a key that fits it, but when you open it up there's a screen tightly screwed in. I thought maybe it was storage, but maybe not. A vent? Grateful for any ideas!

Posted - May 03 2018 : 06:37:35 AM Grace, what a terrific idea...a BIG parking lot will be a must! And truly, any and all advice is welcome.

Posted - May 03 2018 : 06:35:44 AM Jana - that little overhang is a bed (also called crow's nest)! There's a little ladder that pulls down so someone (smaller than me!) can climb up. Strictly for sleeping, it's not tall enough to sit up...claustrophobic for me! So yep...I can see it being storage, too. We're tall...my 14 year old son is already 6'2" so he and my hubby will probably be outside in a tent, my daughter and I can stay inside in comfort!

Posted - May 02 2018 : 11:12:58 PM Mary,, if you are able, take your trailer over to a school (or your church) parking lot to practice backing up your trailer etc. go to face book and join some of the various vintage trailer groups.. they are all pretty much helpful.... Also, check your local area for women's camping groups... also,, check out MaryJanes Glamping book for tips, ideas etc. and feek free to ask questions here... Wagons HO! and Happy Trail(er)s....

Posted - May 02 2018 : 6:40:36 PM Maizy is so cute, but I have never seen a trailer with an overhang. Is that a bed or storage? What are your plans with this, by way of rehab work.

Posted - May 02 2018 : 6:19:53 PM Thanks Grace...this is all new, but I can't wait. No kidding, playhouse on wheels is perfect! I find myself in there arranging and then rearranging. And the original paperwork says it sleeps 4 to 6...crazy! Maybe 4 to 6 kids! Don't even get me started on how I'll learn to pull her. Yep...that'll be me, going down the road about 25 miles an hour!

Here she is...they did most of the hard work! She needs some roof repair (at least for rainy days!) she's not leaking, but the asphalt is beginning to peel off. And if we tinker with the sink, we should be able to easily stop the leak underneath. She's freshly painted inside, with some colorful fabric curtains and cushions. I may change those down the road, but for now, it's all in good shape.
I'm looking forward to the "fun" part...how to dress her up inside!
